This Cape Cod style home recently underwent a kitchen renovation that brings elevated function and modern warmth to a classic footprint. Blending heritage character with refined natural elements, the updated space is a testament to intentional design, thoughtful materiality, and soulful living.
The new kitchen centers around quiet elegance, leaning into a monochrome palette with soft variations in tone and texture. Cabinetry was updated with fresh custom fronts and extended all the way to the ceiling—a subtle yet impactful decision that visually heightens the room and adds a sense of grandeur without overpowering the space.
A standout feature is the use of fluted detailing: vertical white paneling wraps the base of the island, adding soft structure and interest, while light oak fluting brings warmth to the custom range hood and bespoke banquette seating. The cabinetry and millwork remain streamlined and understated, with natural oak shelving replacing encased glass uppers—keeping the visual weight down and the styling opportunities abundant.
The previously orange-toned wood floors were refinished in a light oak stain, creating a calm and airy base that enhances the overall harmony of the palette. Copper hardware punctuates the cabinetry with just the right amount of shine, tying in beautifully with the warmth of the wood and echoing the inviting glow of the pendant light over the sink. Additionally, a coffee bar was installed to keep appliances off the counters, further contributing to the clean and uncluttered aesthetic of the space.
The built-in banquette now serves as a cozy, grounding nook, complete with chocolate brown and olive-toned textiles that bring depth and comfort to the corner. This nook, paired with a round pedestal table and surrounded by natural light, offers a relaxed space for morning coffee, casual meals, or slow afternoons with a book.
