HELLO!
We love dishing about interior design trends, even though some might see ‘trends’ as a bit of a dirty word. They say, “Trends aren’t timeless,” but I beg to differ. Trends are like the diary entries of style evolution, capturing how creative minds are shaking things up in interiors.
Sure, trends eventually reach their peak, and then something new comes along to steal the spotlight. The good news? If you truly love it and have thoughtfully invested in it, your personal style never goes out of fashion. So, even when shiplap walls are as outdated as shag carpets, your unique flair will still shine!
Trending…
MOOD TREND: PLAYFULISM

Interiors just got fun. Design can sometimes feel a bit too serious, but lately, interior designers are embracing a lighter, more joyful vibe. We’re calling it “playfulism” — a trend defined by uplifting color combos, charmingly naive patterns, and anti-structural shapes like waves and curves.
PS. I love this! Your home is your sanctuary, a canvas for your personality. Who wants to live like they're posing for a portrait all the time?
DECORATING TREND: BOLD CEILINGS

If there's been one big change in home decorating over the last decade, it's how we approach ceiling decor. Gone are the days of default white ceilings. Now, the ceiling is a canvas for creativity, whether you paint it, panel it, or go bold with ceiling wallpaper.
PS. My home, a product of the 70s with 8-foot ceilings, inspired me to embrace its character. I chose Benjamin Moore Collingwood for the ceilings, adding a subtle contrast to the Benjamin Moore Steam walls.
BATHROOM TREND: GLASS BRICKS

One trend you'll see in our list is the comeback of materials once thought to be outdated or ugly. Take glass bricks, for instance. Once an 80s eyesore, they're now a cool, lo-fi critique of overly luxurious modern bathrooms — a refreshing contrast to vast marble slabs and frameless glass screens.
PS. Jackpot! I'm over the moon—my vintage ensuite has a shower wall entirely made of glass bricks!
PAINT TREND: COLOUR DRENCHING

Color drenching isn't just a passing trend for 2024—it's practically the new standard in home decor. In simple terms, it means painting everything in a room the same color—walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, and even doors. Some take it a step further by extending this monochromatic palette to furniture and decor, creating a cohesive and striking look.
PS. I always suggest ceilings, walls, trim and doors to be “drenched” in the same tone. My reasoning is while trim adds the final touch to a room, it shouldn't steal the spotlight from other features that deserve attention.
