We moved last year into our ‘forever home”. I am in love with the style and knowing that the previous homeowners had great “family” gatherings which is exactly what we like to create with our family.
The main area is a clean look but I do add my own eclectic touch in other rooms which is also shown in my fashion. Yes, my brother in laws like to tease me about some of my fashion choices in good fun – it provides entertainment for the evening.

I have inherited some beautiful pieces in my dining room. I remember my parents purchasing this table and sideboard from the original McKellars on Georgia Street. This mirror is from an old hotel in Gastown that my godparents previously owned. Not to mention a hutch originally finished in marine paint that took 80 hours of Paulo’s patience to bring back to its natural state.
I replaced the chandelier and chose a beaded style with black metal keeping the antiqued with the furniture – a special gift from my sister and brother-in-law. These pieces needed a little drama to showcase when entertaining in this special room.

I love wallpaper and was looking for a deep blue and green pattern. I found the perfect match from A Street Prints and chose the existing millwork on the bottom of the wall to be painted Yorktowne Green from Benjamin Moore. From West Elm I chose worn velvet copper drapes to a punch to the mood of the room again something from my personality.

Our first gathering in our special room was Christmas dinner with our family and even though our loved ones passed were not physically in the room their personalities were felt in the celebration.
